Supporting the Heart of Music and Performing Arts in La Center
The La Center Music Association (LCMA) is a Washington State nonprofit and 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to strengthening music and performing arts education in the La Center School District. We provide financial support to Directors and students so they can focus on creating, performing, and growing — without the burden of financial barriers.
Our Vision is a La Center where every Director and student can fully thrive in music and performing arts, free from financial obstacles that limit potential.
Our Mission is to support our Directors and students by mobilizing community‑based fundraising and private donations that sustain equitable, high‑quality arts education.
Our Team Philosophy is simple and steady: we learn from the past, serve the needs of today, and invest intentionally in the future of music and performing arts in La Center.
Together — with families, community members, and local businesses — we are building a vibrant, sustainable arts community where every student has the opportunity to shine.

Music Student Needs – Supporting Students
The LCMA is committed to supporting students that have music program needs during the school year. Needs take many forms in music and performing arts. Paying program fees, paying for clothes, shoes, music, and instrument rentals are just a few. We understand that while scholarships can be used for tuition, private lessons, and camps, some students may need a little boost in just managing the day to day needs of participating in these programs during the school year. The LCMA can be a silent benefactor behind the scenes to help make an obstacle a manageable task for families and students.

Fostering Musical Excellence – Investing in Students
The association awards around $8,000.00 in scholarships to middle and high school students each year. Funds from scholarships can be used for private lessons, band camps, and university tuition. We are excited to come alongside so many students to help them achieve their goals of music mastery as a young music student or a college bound senior. Investing into students is what it’s all about and scholarships are a great way to encourage their growth.

Music & Performing Arts Director Needs – Partnering with Directors
Our city population is growing and the needs of our music and performing arts programs are challenging existing budgets. When a Director is faced with the decision of saying yes or no to equipment, resources, a field trip, or a festival due to budget constraint, that is where the LCMA steps in and makes a way. We also work with school administrators and Directors on a regular basis to understand their curriculum needs and to plan ahead for them. On average, our financial support is equal to 25-50% of the Directors annual budget. Without our support, Directors would need to say “no” more often than not to important activities and initiatives.
